Adam & Jada Henson
We raise purebred Black Angus, using a grass only production model. We believe that meat from animals raised solely on grass provides not only a more true eating experience, with the taste of beef as nature intended, but also provides the consumer with a more nutritious product. We do not give our animals any growth hormones and only use antibiotics when the health of our animals demands it. We are proud to offer beef by appointment from the farm and we are also vendors at the Maggie Valley Farmer’s Market on the summer holiday weekends.
Our main focus as egg producers is to provide a stepping-stone for people looking to move away from industrialized food systems. We do this by feeding conventionally grown grains in order to keep egg costs down and by using a mobile coop system that puts our hens on fresh grass making the eggs richer and providing a better production model for our chickens.
Purchasing eggs from Shady Brook Farm is as simple as a Facebook message. We have a couple of pick up points at local businesses in Haywood County, or if you are in the Canton area we can meet with you at a mutually accessible location. Our eggs are $3.00 per dozen. We occasionally do specials and giveaways, which are always promoted on our FB page.
In Waynesville, our pick up point is at Olde Time Insurance on Hazelwood Avenue in Hazelwood. The office sits off the street a little but shares parking area with Waynesville Pharmacy. Olde Time is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9-5 and Wednesday from 9-1.
In Clyde, our pick up point is at Heart Strings Music Studio on Jones Cove Road just below the hospital. Heart Strings is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons.
If you are interested in using one of these pick up points for eggs please notify us as to what day and how many you want and they will be there waiting for you. Please note, with pick up at Heart Strings we do have to work with their schedule.
Understand that these locations are not selling our eggs retail, so you can’t walk in the off the street and take eggs home with you if you haven’t put in an order. These businesses are generous enough though to help us get our eggs to you more easily and conveniently.
To place an order simply send a message to our Facebook page, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are also vendors at the Canton Farmers Market. This market occurs weekly on Thursday afternoons from 3-7 pm and runs May-October. The market is great way to connect with us face to face.
We gladly accept cash, checks, plastic via square card reader and we are also willing to barter. Please note the plastic payment option is only available through direct pick up or at the farmers market. It is not available at Olde Time or at Heartstrings.
